It was the holiday season of 2002, and Colleen was in between jobs and, frankly, had a wee bit too much time on her hands (it was the days before the real Internet, after all). She did, however, have a love for music and playing around with graphic design, not to mention a LOT of experience making mixed tapes in the 1990s. Being a little bit crafty and a lot bit on a budget, it only seemed fitting to make a dozen holiday CDs for friends as Christmas gifts.

Fast forward 20 years (!), and the tradition is still alive and well. It has evolved through a marriage; three dogs; one kid, then two more, and a fourth; three family moves; six different schools; more than a few jobs and Colleen’s entire spinning career. Our kids don’t know a year in which we didn’t make a holiday CD.

Despite it changing from a CD to a flash drive in 2014, we still call it from a CD. And, despite it changing from a flash drive to a Spotify or Apple Music playlist in 2021, we’ll probably still call it a CD! If you know anything about our family, you know that, for better or for worse, traditions die hard for us Fishers.

We love hearing how much you have loved it, too. From the stories about having Christmas in July; to trading in a car and forgetting Vol. 7 in the car’s CD player and asking us to do a re-burn; to the excitement of listening to it while traveling to Rehoboth on Christmas Day, we believe music is what has kept many of us connected, especially as of late.

We couldn’t have done this over the years without the help of our various recruits – our kids, grandparents, their friends, babysitters and (yes) even hired teenage hands. From burning and printing to assembly and mailing, it truly has taken a village to put this together. You know who you are! Thank you so much. Also, special recognition goes to Colleen’s dear friend and former colleague, Todd Kiraly, for helping with the design since 2004. You can learn more about the evolution of our tradition through the YouTube movie Gus created in 2019 below.

This said, we’re thrilled to launch the Fisher Holiday Hits website and to be able to bring you not only the latest edition of our holiday music – but all 20 volumes (in case you missed any)! — and make it easy to access through Spotify and Apple Music. We hope you’ll follow us at Fishers’ Holiday Hits, and that we can keep the tradition going for years to come.

Here’s a musical season, and thanks for celebrating 20 years with us!

Happy Holidays!
